Destination Wedding FAQ’s

How long do you need to be in Jamaica before getting married?

All couples are required to be on the island 24 hours to have a legal wedding. We do recommend for couples to be on island at least 2 – 3 days before for a seamless process and for any last minute changes you will like to make for your wedding day.

What makes a marriage legally binding?

The marriage license/ certificate must be signed by the couple, one or more witnesses, and the officiant conducting the ceremony. The officiant must take the signed marriage license to the appropriate court office to have it filed. … Once the license has been filed, the marriage is officially legal. All civil marriages that take place in Jamaica are recognized in the United States as legal binding marriages.

How soon will I receive my marriage certificate from Jamaica?

The Marriage Certificate may be applied for by the Marriage Officer and takes between 7 working days to 1 month to be processed by the Registrar General’s Department. The wedding planner usually mail the certificate within 6 weeks after your wedding date.

How much is a destination wedding in Jamaica?

A destination wedding can be free for bride and groom and up to 10 guests at many resorts in Jamaica. Bride and Groom and guests will need to stay at their resort for a minimum of 3 nights / 4 days. A free wedding will include a one tier cake, sparkling wine for toasting, a basic arch with minimum flower decor , white plastic or folding chairs for your ceremony and a semi- private dinner reception inside one of the resort’s restaurants. With a semi private dinner, there would be no first dance allowed in the restaurants as the space is shared with other guests.

How much does it cost to be a guest at a destination wedding?

On average a destination wedding guest will pay about $1500 per person including airfare and hotel on a 3 nights stay in the least expensive room category and non stop flights from the US east coast. This price is based on a 4 star resort in a standard room during fall travel period.

Is it cheaper to have a destination wedding?

We have been planning destination weddings for over 18 years and we find destination weddings are way cheaper than having a local wedding stateside. Many resorts offer perks such as free ceremony and reception dinners ( based on numbers of rooms booked) and also include your wedding day food and beverage. This is a huge savings for all destination wedding couples.

Who pays for a destination wedding?

The couple is the one that pays for their destination wedding events. Sometimes parents will contribute but it is mostly the couples responsibility to pay for their destination wedding. Destination wedding couples benefit from guests booking their accommodation in the couples room group block. The more rooms booked, the more perks, free events for the bride and groom.
